The Flemish Publishers Association (GAU) is the professional organization for publishers and book importers/distributors of general fiction and non-fiction books, comics and children’s books. They must have a registered office in Flanders or the Brussels Region.

GAU promotes the interests of its members through representation in policy committees with a legal, political or economic focus.

GAU defends the interests and views of Flemish publishers at the Flemish, Belgian and European level. Examples are: generic B2C book promotion campaigns, regulated book price, legal deposit, copyright, VAT system, etc.

“Promotion of Dutch books” in the broadest sense and “promotion of reading” are GAU's core action points.

GAU and its members are represented at the Frankfurter Buchmesse, at the London Book Fair and at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
